Everything you need to know about remodeling your bathroom
An independent guide to remodeling a bathroom in a US home. Real price ranges, the layout trade-offs nobody selling you a renovation will mention, and how to tell a competent contractor from an expensive one. We do not remodel bathrooms.

Most people arrive here mid-problem rather than at the beginning. Pick the line that sounds like you.

The questions asked most often
Ranked by measured monthly US search volume, not by what we would prefer you to read. The bars are that volume drawn to scale, so you can see how steeply interest drops after the first few.
How a page here gets made
This site is paid when it refers a reader to a local company. That is an incentive to tell you what you want to hear, so the process below is built to push against it, and it runs before anything is published rather than after a complaint.
- 1
Nothing gets written cold
A sourced brief exists before the page does. Each fact inside it links to a URL and the date it was published; whatever can't clear that bar gets left out rather than approximated.
- 2
The brief is the boundary
Writers work strictly from the brief - nothing gets added on the fly because it seemed plausible. Splitting research from writing is specifically what keeps invented numbers off the page.
- 3
Nine gates, all automated
A finished page runs through a set of automated checks before it goes live. The central one lifts every figure, date and cited authority and cross-checks it against the brief; anything unmatched is removed.
- 4
Dated, and revisited
Every page shows when it was last checked. Because prices shift, a figure that held up last year gets re-examined rather than left in place indefinitely.
What you will never find here
Each of these is a check that fails a page and stops it publishing, not a promise we are asking you to take on trust.
- Nothing stated as fact - a stat, a price, a date - without a named source behind it
- Nothing shaped like a review, rating or testimonial that we produced ourselves
- No license or years-in-business claim we haven't verified. We do not remodel bathrooms
- Nothing promised about price, timing, availability or the outcome of a job
Before you rely on anything here
Questions about windows are answered on the pages above, with sources. These are about how this site operates and who is paying for it.
Are you a remodeling contractor?
No. Bath Remodel Brief is an independent information site. We do not design, demolish, plumb, tile, install or warranty anything, and we are not licensed to. If you ask to be connected, your enquiry goes to independent local companies who are.
How does this site make money?
When a reader is referred to a local company, we can be paid for that - it's disclosed on every page rather than hidden in fine print. That arrangement pushes toward sending you onward, which is precisely why editorial rules exist and get applied before publication.
Where do the prices on this site come from?
Every number is attributed to a named source with the date it was last checked; if we can't source it, it doesn't appear. Bathroom remodeling prices vary by market, so figures are shown as ranges - and a national range may still miss where you live.
Will I get sales calls just for reading a page?
No - there's no phone number gate on any content here. Companies reach out only after you've deliberately asked to be connected with one.
Do you rank or rate remodeling companies?
No. We publish no reviews, ratings, star scores or testimonials of our own, because we have not inspected anyone's work. A referral is not a certification. Check licence and insurance yourself before you sign anything.
Can I rely on a national price range for my own bathroom?
Treat it as a starting point for the conversation, not as a quote. Square footage, fixture count, whether plumbing moves, finish level, and what the crew finds once the old tile comes off all move the number, and labor rates vary widely by market.
Who we cite, so you can go and check
Standards bodies and federal agencies, not other blogs. These are the references the pages here draw on; each page also carries its own numbered source list covering the specific figures on it.
- EPA WaterSense US Environmental Protection AgencyWater-efficiency criteria for toilets, showerheads and faucets
- 2010 ADA Standards US Department of Justice, ADA.govAccessible design requirements for grab bars, clearances and fixtures
- US Access Board Access BoardPlain-language guidance on accessible bathing room design
- Department of Energy US DOE, Office of Energy EfficiencyGuidance on water-efficient fixtures and home energy use

Manufacturer and retailer pricing pages are used for current prices where no neutral source publishes them, and are labelled as such on the page. We do not cite other lead-generation sites, aggregators, or content farms, because their figures are usually copied from somewhere else without a date.
Browse by state
State pages are directories into the guides above. They carry no pricing of their own, because a national figure for a locally priced job would be misleading.
